I first remember encountering trillium on the Fish Point nature trail on Pelee Island, pointed out by a friend that we had made the night before. We weren’t going to stop there, as we didn’t think that we had the time before having to catch the ferry back. But we were convinced to come along which was a wise move, as it was one of the nicest nature areas on the island.
Trillium is usually white, but sometimes pink, and sometimes it is a blotchy mix between the two. It always has three leaves and three petals and always pops up right as spring is really getting going.
